About the Author

RM Watters grew up in small-town Wisconsin and spent her high school years on a dairy farm outside Reeseville, hiding from chickens and wandering the woodsy countryside (likely to escape the chickens). Now, she lives in sunny Central Florida with her two children and three cats. (And no chickens.)

Apart from being a historical & fantasy writer, she may also be titled The Misplaced Elf, Mother of Cats, & Mother of Two Awesome Humans.

In her down time, when she’s not spending time with her family or working on her latest novel, she enjoys biking, listening to music, reading anything with interesting characters and engaging plots, dancing, hiking, and solving cryptograms. Needless to say, she needs to constantly be doing something or else she gets bored and then she gets into trouble. (You know what they say about idle hands…)

Despite all these other activities that keep her from slowing down, her favorite way to end the day is with The Sims, Age of Empires, or a fantasy RPG like The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, or Assassin’s Creed.

Apart from writing fiction (and dabbling in poetry), some of her favorite things are cats, coffee, candles, and cocktails. Those are what she affectionately calls the 4 C’s of what gets her through the day. It’s also what you’d use to summon her if she were a deity. She says, “You never know – we writers often do have something of a god-complex.”

If seeking to summon Ms. Watters, you may need a fifth item to place on one of the five points of the pentagram (naturally, it’s going to be a pentagram). Keeping with the C-theme, there is one thing that you could add but it’s not appropriate unless you’re her significant other…

…so just add a small tray of chips and salsa to the list of offerings because, if all else fails, that will definitely do the trick!

Formerly a 7th grade ELA teacher, she is currently earning her MFA in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University, with a Professional degree certificate in publishing and marketing. Next, she plans on earning her MBA.

Oddly, she was originally studying to be a geneticist but gave into her ‘dangerous poetic tendencies’ when she realized her true passions were writing, language, and history. After switching majors at the eleventh hour, she went on to receive her BA in English Literature from University of Central Florida. Apart from Medieval & Renaissance literature, she also studied Ancient & Medieval history, Renaissance & Baroque art history, English legal history, linguistics, and cultural anthropology; all of which influence her historical and fantasy writing alike.
